There are many amazing reasons to live in the Silicon Valley and the surrounding areas. A seamless, traffic-free commute is not one of them, though. That’s one huge benefit of investing in Willowgate real estate right in the heart of Mountain View – home to Google. This charming community is located minutes from Central Expressway and Highway 85, Stanford University, as well as near a Caltrain stop which can take you to San Francisco or San Jose along the Peninsula route.  Its outstanding location allows residents to spend less time commuting and more time enjoying the outstanding quality of life in Willowgate.

Neighborhoods Within a Neighborhood

Willowgate is a small Mountain View community comprised of about 25 single-family craftsman-style homes, several cabin-style homes, the 57-unit Cypress Point Condominiums and the 11-unit Willowgate Gardens townhomes. The condominium and townhome communities and even the homes on specific streets within the community, Willowgate Street, for example, organize their own neighborhood associations, events and even newsletters. The result? The best of both worlds. Residents get to know their immediate neighbors especially well, but also mingle with other Willowgate neighbors at nearby Jackson Park and the local community garden.

Willowgate Community Garden: The Neighborhood’s Crown Jewel

Today, approximately 85 individually tended plots ranging from 250 to more than 400 square feet make up the garden, which is located on Andsbury Avenue. Not only is the community garden the source of fresh tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, berries and more for its lucky gardeners, many of whom love to swap and share, it’s a popular gathering spot simply to visit with neighbors. A considerable amount of the garden’s harvest is donated to a local food pantry. Participation in the garden is open to all Mountain View residents, although there is a lengthy waiting list to receive a plot. Make sure to get your name on the list as soon as you move to Mountain View! Efforts are underway to convince the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission to create additional community gardens considering demand is so high.

Willowgate Is an Ideal Place to Live and to Own Income Property

While not all Willowgate residents who want a garden plot have gotten one yet, they all reap the benefits of living in an active community where neighbors are frequently outdoors. The garden not only adds to a sense of camaraderie, but it also helps reduce crime since residents are frequently outdoors where they can quickly spot and report anything that seems amiss. Ask any real estate professional and they will tell you if you’re looking to buy real estate to live in or to rent out, buying it in a neighborhood where residents look out for one another makes sense personally and financially.  If you’re focusing on investment properties, contact us at Esquire Property Management Group.
